A huge thank you to our incredible Griffin Firefighters for spending time with us throughout the week! From exploring the fire trucks and ambulances to learning crucial fire safety tips—and even seeing firefighters in full gear—our students learned so much about staying safe.

Orange Shirt Day at Griffin | Every Child Matters 🧡
Today, September 30th, our Griffin staff and students joined together in wearing orange to observe Orange Shirt Day and recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Why We Wear Orange:
Orange Shirt Day honors the survivors of Indigenous residential and boarding schools, remembers the children who never came home, and stands in solidarity with Indigenous families and communities.
The movement originated from the story of Phyllis Webstad, a Northern Secwepemc survivor. At six years old, Phyllis arrived at residential school wearing a brand-new orange shirt given to her by her grandmother, only to have it forcibly taken away. Today, the color orange serves as a powerful symbol of remembrance, stripping away of culture, and our collective commitment to ensuring that Every Child Matters.
