Griffin School is proud to announce that two of our very own "Griffin Grizzlies," Livie and Julien, have been recognized for their outstanding historical storytelling in a recent essay contest hosted by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
In her winning entry, Livie takes readers to 1793 for a front-page interview with Thomas Jefferson at Michie's Tavern, where he discusses the "tremendous responsibility" of writing the Declaration of Independence.
Julien's essay transports us back to a sweltering July in 1776 for a chance encounter at the Golden Plough Tavern with James Smith, a lawyer and advocate for liberty who eventually signed the Declaration on August 2, 1776
Congratulations to Livie and Julien for their hard work and for representing our school with such academic excellence!
